It’s common for people to confuse Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal, and when talk of Tobey leaving Spider-Man surfaced Jake was the first name fans came up with to replace him. Something about them is obviously eerily similar, so it’s only natural that someone should capitalize on that by having them play brothers. Variety says they may do just that. They’re in negotiations to star in Jim Sheridan’s new movie Brothers.
The movie is a remake, but a remake of a Danish movie that nobody really cares about. Except perhaps the Danes, but screw them. Where is Danland anyway, and is that where the Dan Band hails from?
Brothers casts Tobey Maguire as a man sent to fight in Afghanistan and Jake Gyllenhaal as his black-sheep younger brother stuck taking care of his wife and child. If it were still the 90s and this were a comedy, I’d recommend hiring Chris Farley and David Spade for it instead.
