Marvel's Big GMA Reveal Teases Upcoming Avengers 2 Appearances
Today is a big day for news on The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, especially if you’re a fan of ABC programming. After tons of hype from Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. over the past couple of days, the moment arrived not too long ago and it did so with as much thunder as Thor’s hammer. Without any further waiting, here’s today’s big Avengers announcement.
Good Morning America was lucky enough to be party to a huge announcement that The Avengers: Age Of Ultron will have the film’s cast promoting the preordained blockbuster not only on a special episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live on the 13th, but also on a close to release date episode of Good Morning America on the 24th! It might be hard to believe, but we’re closing in on the release of the sequel to 2012’s mega franchise flick faster than a speeding suit of armor, and Marvel/Disney looks to be aiming for a publicity barrage that will leave no one unaware that The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is coming to town.
While a Good Morning America appearance isn’t that surprising, despite the possibilities it will yield for the brand of live TV shenanigans the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and company like to engage in, it’s the Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance that sounds particularly exciting. For years, Kimmel has been blending a trademark brand of effective comedy and high profile celebrities, making him a kind of stealth weapon on the late night TV circuit. It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see Jimmy coming on to the set that night dressed as Spider-Man and grilling each of Earth’s mightiest heroes about whether his membership application went through. Also, if that ends up happening, fingers crossed they go the extra mile and cast Matt Damon as Venom for the night, because we all know that score isn’t settled by a long run.
Now keep in mind, the fact that The Avengers are slated to appear on both Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live might not mean everyone will show up to the party. Sure, it’s probably in their contracts that they do, but you know how problematic schedules can be. Another question to ask, will it just be the core Avengers team, or will James Spader be on hand for some Ultron-y goodness, flanked by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson to boot?
Thankfully, we’ll only have to wait next Monday for the fun to begin with Jimmy Kimmel Live: The Avengers Assembled, which will be followed the next week by The Avengers’ GMA appearance on the 24th. All of this, of course, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron wages all out war on your wallet on May 1.
