The Master Will Arrive On Blu-ray In February

The last few months have been filled with films that have gained prominence as awards contenders, including such box office successes as Les Miserables and Django Unchained. It’s easy to forget that there were plenty of movies throughout the year that brought something special to the big screen, even if they didn’t achieve quite as huge theatrical releases. One of these films is P.T. Anderson’s The Master, which hit theaters this fall but hasn’t really been heard from since. As it turns out, The Master is headed to Blu-ray and DVD beginning on February 26.

The Master, P.T. Anderson’s tale of a lost young man who finds his way after encountering The Cause, a belief system to help lost souls get back on some sort of path. The film has been praised for its performances, and most notably P.T. Anderson, Amy Adams, and Joaquin Phoenix are all up for Academy Awards following their similar nominations at this year’s Golden Globes.

The film will run for a decent cost, with Blu-ray copies costing $39.99 and DVD copies running more cheaply, at $29.98. Additionally, extras with the Blu-ray and DVD sets seem to be fairly interesting, although they are subject to change. This includes footage from the making of the film, as well as outtakes edited to music by Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood, who put together the soundtrack for the film. Additionally, John Huston’s landmark WWII documentary Let Their Be Light will also be available with the Blu-ray. You can check out the full list of extras, below.
