Well, it looks like the mysterious, JJ Abrams’ produced movie we’ve all been calling Cloverfield for the past few months finally has a real title. It’s Cloverfield. The title is displayed at the end of the film’s new trailer, which is apparently running in theaters somewhere since there’s video of it online taken by someone with a camera phone.
The new trailer was uncovered by Filmstalker on the site Cloverfield News. Click over there for downloadable versions, but they’ve also kindly made the new trailer available as a YouTube video, and here it is… at least until someone hits them with a cease and desist:
For the record, I’ve now shifted from being mildly annoyed by this movie to flat out hating it . They spend months generating buzz for the film by refusing to tell us the title, as part of some awful viral marketing plan to keep us all guessing… then they reveal the title and it’s the codename they’d been using all along. The codename that Abrams himself very vocally assured us was not the movie’s title. Well buddy, if it’s not the title then what’s it doing tacked on at the end of your trailer as title card? Son of bitch. At least now maybe all the furor over Cloverfield can die off. All that’s left to speculate about is what kind of monster is it, and there are even clues to that in the trailer above, which will likely become more clear when a high-res version of the trailer is available.

Sorry, you have that wrong. Go back and listen to the speech JJ Abrams made at Comic-Con. He said the movie would not be titled "MONSTROUS"... he never said anything about Cloverfield.
I think Cloverfield is the perfect choice. It already has a strong brand recognition. IMO, any other name they could have picked would have still left people disappointed.
Sorry no, you have it wrong. What Abrams said was that none of the titles we'd heard up till then were what the movie would be called. At the time, Cloverfield was one of those titles, as was Monstrous.
Nah Cloverfield isn't silly. it might actually have something to do with the movie that we don't know about. i love how people are so willing to tear down something they haven't even seen. my my how ignorant of you.
