With the rumors flying around about Edward Norton’s bad behavior on the set of The Incredible Hulk and the release date nearing, the latest take on the big green monster needs some good publicity, and fast. Now, they’ve got the poster that may be the solution to get the fans excited again. Or, well, maybe not.
The poster, which you can see below, is an effective tease of the Hulk, who we’ve still only seen in brief glimpses in the trailer. The Hulk is standing in the classic “beleaguered hero” pose, and the helicopters coming at him get across the evil government subplot that seems to be the main target of the movie.
But the problem for me here is Bruce Banner, who actually faces front and is the real focal point of the poster. Yes, it gets across the transformation quickly, and the idea of a man battling against an entirely different part of himself. But does he have to be dressed so much like a janitor? And with his head hanging down like that, it evokes memories of the super-emotional Ang Lee Hulk, which everyone seems to rather forget.
So it’s a bit of a mixed bag, which has been the case with all of the Hulk promos thus far. Can it recover from all this bad buzz? Will Edward Norton even promote the thing? Seems to me they ought to keep talking about that 25-minute fight scene at the end of the film, and hope the comic book fans show up for that and ignore everything else that might go wrong.

Holy crap people really want to find any reason to shred this movie.
"But does he have to be dressed so much like a janitor?"
THIS is what people are complaining about? Bruce Banner's FASHION SENSE??????
The Hulk is a misunderstood monster who is hunted by those who are, in fact, the real monsters. This is what the Hulk is.....this is the primary story.....and people seem bent on identifying that as a flaw.
The Hulk is meant to be a somber, tragic character in the same vein of Frankenstein....quit complaining about it!!!!!
I'd hardly qualify anything Katey had to say as actual "hatred".
She wasn't complaining about the character's fashion sense either, merely discussing how he looked in the poster. This is an article specifically about the poster after all.
I agree, before I even read the other posts I thought this was an obvious throwback to Bill Bixby and his look as he walked off down the road at the end of every episode... its the sense of being lost and lonely, and I think it works.
Looks a lot like the "Spider-Man no more" cover from Amazing Spider-Man #50. But I think it is good for this poster...gives it that classic Marvel feel.

I think they're trying to make Ed Norton look like Bill Bixby in the old Hulk TV show, hence the outfit.
Are people really that hung up on the old Hulk TV show? I've never had any nostalgia for it myself.
