New Ninja Turtles Teaser Shows Off Weapons, Reveals Next Trailer Date

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is a sequel that seems to be embracing its source material, as opposed to the first film, which took some serious liberties. Its first trailer had plenty of turtle goodness for fans to enjoy, with lots of inspiration clearly coming from the original eighties animated series. Classic characters from the cartoon such as dumb guy henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady, and the villainous alien brain thing Krang, all have big roles in the movie, but perhaps the most important thing the trailer sells is the humor. Another trailer is about to drop, and its teaser proves that this will indeed be a funny movie about giant, adolescent turtle people eating pizza and doing ninja things.

This teaser comes from the Green Arrow himself, actor Stephen Amell, who plays Casey Jones in the Turtle sequel. Amell has a pretty good social media game and usually teases his upcoming projects and Arrow stuff to his fans. The Arrow actor released the teaser on his Twitter account along with the release date for the full trailer.

This teaser is crazy short and doesn’t offer anything about the plot or give up any action scenes, but it does show the Turtles gearing up to hit the streets. It looks like in Donatello’s case, he’s upgraded his staff to have electric Tasers on the end, in order to give him a boost in combat – he always did have the most boring weapon of the four turtles. Plus, he does engineer machines so he might as well use that big brain to his advantage. I really wish they had gotten rid of his dumb stereotypical nerd glasses. We get it; he’s the smart one! You don’t have to telegraph it so much in his appearance.

The only other thing to note in the teaser is the humor, which features party dude Michelangelo eating not one, not two, but four pizza slices at once. It looks equally both disgusting and delicious, and it makes me wonder if the Turtles figured out that New York has much better pizza places than Pizza Hut.
