ParaNorman Theatrical Trailer Arrives Online
Over the years a strong connection has been forged between stop-motion animation and the horror genre. In the last twenty years alone we’ve seen titles like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and Coraline forge this bond (even James and the Giant Peach, a film about giant bugs living in a piece of rotting fruit, was fairly creepy for a children’s film). Hell, just a few hours ago we showed you the first trailer for Frankenweenie, a story where a kid brings his dead dog back to life.
But 2012 happens to be a special year because we actually have two stop-motion horror films coming out, the other, of course, being Laika’s ParaNorman. We’ve actually already seen a good amount from the title, as both a teaser trailer and an international trailer arrived online a few months ago, but now we get to preview even more as Focus Features has delivered a brand new look at the movie.
Check it out below and head over to Apple to see it in HD.
The film tells the story of Norman (Kodi Smit-McPhee), an ordinary kid with an extraordinary ability: he can see dead people. While he is resistant to his abilities at first, when he learns that an ancient curse threatens to destroy his hometown he knows that he must do everything within his power to stop it. Directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell, ParaNorman also features the voice talents of Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jeff Garlin and Elaine Stritch. Look for the movie when it arrives in theaters on August 17th and head over to our Blend Film Database to see more.
