The Peanuts Trailer Is Delightful And Daring
Those two lil’ tykes Snoopy and Woodstock are back in an all-new trailer for The Peanuts Movie. We can’t wait for the entire gang to return for their first go in 3D on the big screen. But until its release this November, here’s a little teaser footage to whet your palette.
Snoopy lets his imagination take flight atop his iconic red dog house, as he zig-zags through clouds, grapples with The Red Baron and almost crashes into the Eiffel Tower. Of course, good ol’ Woodstock is there to cackle at this lovable cartoon pooch when he inadvertently falls into his dog bowl. But where’s Charlie Brown and the rest of his pals during all of this? Why, having a little trouble maneuvering a popcorn bowl in the movie theater.
Admittedly, we don’t know all that much about the story of The Peanuts Movie, and this trailer doesn’t shed any light. What we do know comes from an official blurb that accompanied the video.
The Red Baron is Snoopy’s arch-nemesis whenever he imagines himself as a World War I Flying Ace. This is perhaps the pup’s most widely recognized get-ups, and sometimes The Red Baron would get the best of him, like in It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown TV special.
But what could Charlie Brown be questing for in the movie? According to a report from USA Today, it’s "something he’s sure he needs, even though he discovers he’s pretty OK just as he is." (Start your various fan theories in the comments below.) We’ll also get to delve into the mind of this "crazy dog" and what he’s "imagining every day of his life," said producer and writer Craig Schulz, who’s also one of the sons of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz.
With a year dominated by massive blockbuster franchises like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode 7, Jurassic World and Ant-Man, The Peanuts Movie will be a nice break to take with the whole family. And by the looks of the trailer, it seems like it’ll maintain everything we love about the cartoons and TV specials — just in a larger context.
