Ralph Macchio Cast In Making Of Psycho Movie

Ralph Macchio hasn’t been seen often on the big screen in recent years. In fact, most of his noteworthy appearances of late have been on television, with a recurring role in ABC’s Ugly Betty, and a guest starring role in an episode of Psych a couple years back. Macchio hasn’t had many notable film roles since his days of The Karate Kid and My Cousin Vinny, but perhaps that’s about to change.

Deadline reports that Macchio has been cast in the Sacha Gervasi-directed Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The film is based on a book by Stephen Rebello, and as you may have surmised by the title, documents the making of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller Psycho. Anthony Hopkins is on board to play the role of Hitchcock.

Macchio will play screenwriter Joe Stefano in the film. In addition to writing the screenplay for Psycho, Stefano went on to write numerous episodes of the ’60’s TV series The Outer Limits and served as an advisor on the series’ reboot back in the ’90’s.

Macchio joins an already strong cast, which in addition to Hopkins, includes Helen Mirren (playing Alma Reville), Scarlett Johansson (playing Janet Leigh) and Jessica Biel (playing Vera Miles).
