After the way things turned out with the Alien vs Predator franchise, it’s hard to be enthusiastic about anyone doing more with either iconic monster. But Robert Rodriguez has been given free reign to remake Predator, and with him in charge maybe that might be horrible. There’s also talk of an Alien prequel, but don’t worry: it sounds like they’ll only do it if it’s directed by original Alien director Ridley Scott.
IESB talked to Fox head honcho Tom Rothman who confirmed that there has been some discussion of doing an Alien prequel, and what’s more Ridley has an idea he’s toying with for it. He’s busy with Robin Hood right now, but afterward? It sound like the door is open. Says Rothman, “I mean, it's always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I've got my fingers crossed, all of them.”
