Sabretooth Part Of Wolverine 3? Here's What Liev Schreiber Said
We’ll be at the end of an era just slightly over a year from now when Hugh Jackman's final performance as Wolverine hits the screen. While we’ve recently begun to pick up a few details about what will make up Wolverine 3, an old rumor has begun to rear its head again, as it appears that there’s a chance that Liev Schreiber may return as Sabretooth. According to the actor, he’s had conversations with Hugh Jackman about it.
Liev Schreiber, along with damn near every other actor and actress in known the universe, was at the Academy Awards last night. MTV caught up with him on the red carpet and asked him if there was any chance that we might see the return of Sabretooth, so that he and Wolverine could make a last bow together. Surprisingly, Schreiber didn’t hide the fact that conversations have taken place.
We’re used to actors being cagey about potential roles, so it’s rare when somebody actually admits that there have been conversations when there apparently hasn’t been a commitment. Several months ago, a Twitter exchange between Liev Schreiber and Hugh Jackman led some to believe that there might be plans for the return of Sabretooth. The actor quickly claimed that nothing like that was going on. While Schreiber was open that he wouldn’t be against returning, he also specifically stated that there had been no talks about doing so. Now, it appears that things have changed and the two friends have actively discussed the idea. It looks like Liev Schreiber is still interested, so maybe it will all come together after all.
Liev Schreiber first played Sabretooth in the much derided X-Men Origins: Wolverine. While that particular movie is seen as a low point in Wolverine’s long history, Sabretooth was one of the movie’s highlights, so we’d have no problem seeing him again. Hey, Deadpool got a chance at redemption from that movie, and his character was in much worse shape by the end.
Wolverine 3 is currently set to be an R-rated feature that will take its inspiration from the classic Old Man Logan graphic novel. While Sabretooth does not play a part in that story, it would already require some significant reworking as the rights to several of the characters that do make appearances are not currently owned by Fox. The only other actor currently who we know is set to appear is Patrick Stewart.
