See A Star Wars: The Force Awakens Stormtrooper In Action
Star Wars Celebration is finally here! Thousands of fans have flocked to the Anaheim convention center in California to get a taste of what J.J. Abrams has in store for us with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Before the live stream of the panel kicks off at 10 am PST, we’ve already received a new look at one of the characters: the new Stormtrooper.
The folks behind Star Wars Underground, a Star Wars online community destination, are on the ground for Star Wars Celebration. Their Instagram feed has been lighting up with all the latest looks at what Disney and Lucasfilm brought to the festivities, one of which is a program filled with images from Episode 7. That’s where we find this new, full-length image of a running Stormtrooper in action.
As you can see, there are many slight differences between the old and new models, and Yahoo Movies UK has broken it down through a side-by-side comparison. Most notably is the helmet, which we previously saw in the Episode 7 teaser trailer. Other notable differences appear on the breastplate, the elbows and knees. Black padding is visible around the joints, presumably to offer the wearer ease of motion. In addition, this Stormtrooper has a holster on his right leg to store his rifle when he’s not blasting Jedi scum into oblivion.
As opposed to the other images surrounding it, this is looks like a promotional shot instead of a still from the movie. Though, we still wonder if it’s John Boyega inside that suit. We saw him pop his head into frame in the teaser trailer while on the run from unseen forces.
Hopefully we’ll see more of this guy in action in the new Star Wars: Episode 7 trailer, said to debut at Star Wars Celebration. It’ll likely drop online for the rest of us to enjoy, as well, so stay tuned to your screens starting at 10 am PST. We’ve heard a lot of reports about what will actually be in the footage, from a TIE Fighter blasting its way through a beach setting to Finn brandishing a lightsaber, ready to face that villainous Sith Kylo Ren. It doesn’t matter, though, because any footage is good footage, right?
Star Wars: Episode 7 features the return of Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Kenny Baker as R2-D2 and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca. The new inductees include Boyega as Finn, Daisy Ridley as Rey, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and more!
