Spider-Man's Doc Ock Wants To Return To The Franchise

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 just may have put the final nail in the coffin of the Sony owned film franchise, at least if the box office results and the studio's shifting plans for the future of the brand have anything to say about it. Some think it's a good idea to quit, and others think it's a good idea to press forward. But some, including legendary actor and Spider-Man 2 vet Alfred Molina , believe that it might be the time to bring back some of the magic from the Sam Raimi trilogy. Mainly, the part of the magic that Alfred Molina provided.

In an interview with Collider, Molina was promoting his new film Love Is Strange. Now if you have Doc Ock in a room, you're naturally going to ask if the man who betrayed Indiana Jones would ever want to strap on the tentacles again. However, if you've got something like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 setting up the return of said iconic villain, then that question is an unavoidable fish to shoot in a barrel. Sure enough, the question was asked and Molina's response was predictably awesome:

"I had a wonderful time. I loved it. I mean, I’d go back and do it again in a heartbeat."

Seeing A-list actors have so much fun with comic book flicks that they'd come back to reprise their roles is one of those awesome joys of the business that is show. It's easy to write off well known actors as taking an easy pay day by starring in a film like Guardians Of The Galaxy, but when you've got Glenn Close ready to reprise her role of Nova Prime, you can tell there's more than just dollar signs in her eyes. Just as she should be brought back on for Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 as soon as possible, it could benefit the Spider-Man franchise if it brought back one of the best (if not THE best) performers to grace its stage.

Oh, and while you're at it, John Lithgow also sounds interested in climbing onto the Spidey train, as he interjected, "Maybe they’ll come after me for Doc Ock … how about Doc Ock’s evil twin?" Drew Goddard, have you thought about who you're going to cast as your new Vulture? If not, you may have found your guy. Love Is Strange is set for release on August 22nd, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be on Blu Ray tomorrow. Spider-Man 2 has been on Blu Ray for quite a while now, so you probably already have it on your shelf somewhere. Might we suggest checking behind your copy of The Dark Knight?
