You would think that, after the last Street Fighter movie, nobody would want to touch the franchise again. It was an embarrassing flick that pretty much killed Van Damme’s mainstream career and can be blamed for killing Raul Julia period. Okay, maybe that’s taking things to an extreme, but it’s pretty darn bad.
Despite the ghost of the last film, another Street Fighter movie is starting up, and Coming Soon says they have an inside scoop on the casting. The movie is titled Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li and will feature Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk in the lead role of Chun-Li. Hyde Park Entertainment is behind the production with 20th Century Fox set to distribute.
The movie will focus on Chun-Li’s journey for justice, which is a hell of a lot better than having the character as a news reporter like she was in the previous picture where she was played by Ming-Na Wen. Ming-Na’s career survived the fiasco of a film, so there’s hope for Kreuk even if the movie doesn’t fare that well. Let’s be honest here, though. Nobody’s going to complain about seeing Kreuk in Chun-Li’s fighting garb. That alone could sell more movie tickets than the previous Street Fighter.

well she should wear chun li's costume and be pitted against zangief where she would take stomach pumps and piledrivers form the russian behemoth, that was never done in any street fighter film and should be on this one for a change..agree?

At least the casting is right, but who really is clamoring for a Street Fighter movie?
