Before they sat down to enjoy some Nazi-killing and movie in-jokes with Inglourious Basterds, audiences over the weekend got a chance to take a brief glimpse into Christopher Nolan's next project, Inception. Now, at long last, that teaser trailer has gone online.
It sure doesn't tell us much-- we've known all along that it would be a thriller set inside the architecture of the mind, and the teaser sticks to that with the tagline "Your mind is the scene of the crime." But given that it's a teaser, and tosses in some intriguing visuals of Leonardo Dicaprio on some grim city streets, it sells the movie all the same. The longest scene -- just a few seconds-- is of a truly awesome fight sequence, in which two people are fighting in a hallway that seems to have lost contact with gravity. One of the fighters appears to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, while the other might be DiCaprio-- or, for all we know, is Ellen Page. That scene is what sells the teaser for me, a vague promise of what's to come, something weighty and awesome befitting the director of The Dark Knight. Throw on top if it a brooding Hans Zimmer score, and the whole audience had better be sold.
And no, I have no idea what the spinning top means. That's some symbolism we'll have to save for later.
You can watch the trailer in the player below, or in HD at Yahoo! Movies. We've also got a gallery of screenshots so you can give yourself your own play-by-play. Just remember, Inception doesn't come out until next summer, so keep your excitement to a minimum for now.
