Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Is Adding A Few NBA Stars
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is underway, filming the sequel to the surprising box office smash that rebooted a brand, and reunited Megan Fox with Michael Bay. While we don't have a lot of details on what's going down in the next film, we do know a couple of things that could and/or should be happening. The latest piece of the puzzle revealed is that members of the L.A. Clippers are going to be filming a scene for next summer's blockbuster.
A reporter from ESPN broke the news that a handful of players from the L.A. Clippers will be shooting what sounds like a bit part in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. You can read the list of players that will be appearing in Arash Markazi's Tweet embedded below.
Now there's two interesting aspects about tomorrow's shoot that Markazi's Tweet left out. First, considering that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is supposed to take place in New York City, it's curious enough that the L.A. Clippers would be featured in the film at all. One would think that a film featuring New York superheroes would at least center itself around a game with the home team. Come to think of it, the next game the L.A. Clippers are playing is in Philadelphia tomorrow afternoon. It all seems suspicious - but let's think this one through a little more.
Given the relative proximity to New York, there's a chance that the team could play an early game, swing over to Madison Square Garden or any other local Basketball venue, and film a couple quick takes before heading home to California. The scene pretty much writes itself: Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael sneak into MSG through the subway below to watch a game; and not only do they have minor problems blending in, they distract the L.A. Clippers team from making a shot of some sort. Or, even better, one of the three rumored new characters to be appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 could make their entrance in the middle of the crowded stadium, disrupting the game via a gigantic action set piece.
While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is only a little over a year away, it's going to be interesting to see what sort of shooting reports leak out of the film's camp. With Dimension X, Baxter Stockman, and a whole bunch of other character options on the table, the next film in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has a lot of potential to keep on playing the greatest hits of the gallery of rouges and villains. Who knows? Maybe some more celebrity cameos will be announced in the months to come!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is aiming for release on June 3, 2016.
