When To Expect The Next Suicide Squad Trailer

Moviegoers got their first look at Suicide Squad this past summer after a special preview screened at San Diego Comic-Con leaked online. Although Warner Bros. tried to keep the footage from spreading, the studio eventually relented and uploaded it for the masses to watch in HD quality. Five months have passed since then, with various pictures and tidbits about the 2016 blockbuster released, but the last couple weeks have seen rumors of another preview on the way. Now it’s official that we can expect the new Suicide Squad trailer to premiere next month.

One of the DC Comics TV specials that The CW will air on January 19 is DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League, which will take viewers behind the scenes on upcoming movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman. This special will culminate in the world premiere of the new Suicide Squad trailer, centered around DC’s “misfit crew of antiheroes forced into saving the world.” If this is anything like how the recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was released at the beginning of the month, then it will likely go up online shortly after, but there’s still nothing quite like watching at the exact same time as everyone else.

For those not familiar with the team’s comic book history, the first Suicide Squad preview set up the basic premise of the movie while a gloomy version of “I Started A Joke” by the Bee Gees played. Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis, puts together a team of incarcerated supervillains to carry out missions to dangerous for anyone else in exchange for leniency. If something goes wrong, these bad guys can be labeled as the scapegoats, giving the U.S. government total deniability. From there, we met who the main players, ranging from the major characters like Will Smith’s Deadshot and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn to lesser knowns like Killer Croc and Slipknot

Since Suicide Squad finished principal photography in August, presumably this new trailer will feature more in the way of action and special effects. Still, it’s hard to tell what we might see in this latest peek, though Heroic Hollywood recently posted a possible description of what the trailer, reportedly set to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” might feature. We won’t spoil any of the moments mentioned there, but if that description proves correct, viewers will get a better sense of what these characters have to offer. At a minimum, let’s hope we finally get confirmation on who the Squad’s target is, be it Enchantress, Joker, or someone else.

You can catch the new Suicide Squad trailer when DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League airs Tuesday, January 19 at 9:30 p.m. EST on The CW. As for the movie itself, it hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
