Thor Movie Not Moving Forward

By Ed Perkis: 2008-03-10 18:29:13
Thor Movie Not Moving Forward Unlike the little known Ant-Man, who is soon to have his own movie, I have actually heard of Thor. He’s a Marvel comic book superhero who carries a big hammer and looks like Dolph Lundgren with Fabio’s hair. In the future, we may, repeat "may", see him on the big screen, battling his enemies, whoever they may be.

As we noted back in August 2007, Matthew Vaughn of Stardust fame is trying to get a Thor movie off the ground. He’s still trying. According to comments he made to Empire Online, Marvel hasn’t given him the green light to move forward, yet. “We’re in a holding pattern at the moment,” he said. ”It’s up to Marvel, they have to decide if they want to make the movie and then we take it from there.”

Josh Tyler guessed way back in August that one reason Marvel might not be moving forward is no one cares about a Thor movie. Even though I’ve heard of him and not Ant-Man, the Ant-Man movie still sounds more interesting. Vaughn wants to go with his own Brandon Routh to play the title character. “Well, the main role is going to be played by someone totally unknown, it can’t be a star, it’s got to be someone totally unknown.” I don’t see why it can’t be a star, but I also don’t see George Clooney playing the part, either, so maybe an unknown is the way to go. Either way, it sounds like all you Thor fans out there are going to have to wait a bit to see the big guy on-screen.

  1. The Glove Says:

This movie should get the go-ahead, I think that it's def got the potenial to be Massively huge like the Lord of the Rings films (only without all the walking!)
Marvel really needs to concentrate on thear big guns and not dudes like ANT MAN

  1. AntMan? Says:

    Ant-*******-Man? R U * kidding me?

Thor has the potential to be huge if they get the visuals right.

Ant Man would appeal to the same 2 people that went to see Hottie or Nottie by Paris Hilton.

  1. Derek Says:

Get this Thor Movie Going!!! I will tell all my friends and strangers too!!! I would like the movie to prove once and for all that Thor is SUPERIOR to the Hulk.

  1. Sigurd the Volsung Says:

Think Gladiator in a classic 70s muscle car. Get some GREAT CASTING like Iron Man, and this can be one of the best. American muscle + the final battle in Lord of the Rings...(okay American-Nordic muscle.) It's unknown enough to not be beholden like a Superman or a Spidey is... It's a viking movie, add a kick ass power metal soundtrack. Everything is already in the story line to knock one out of the park. Go for the over the top macho power. Go for the psychedelia in Odin's mind mapping before Ragnarok, ...it's all there. Go big or go home.

  1. AXXT Says:

From reading what the media has said about the Thor movie standstill it sounds like Matthew is a nut. Marvel should fire him and find someone else. Matthew seems to be to far into his own head to be of use to any Thor fans.

  1. Yama454 Says:

I am curious to see what they do with the movie, I am not going to make any judgments on how good or bad it will be, it just depends on how serious they take it! But I don't see anyone pulling off the character, unless its Vladimir Kulich! I've heard they want Brad Pitt to play the part but I don't think he could pull it off, he is not nearly big enough! maybe he could do the ultimates version? but if its ultimates I won't watch!
