Are you following the Twitter account @EmbeddedUDF? If you’re even remotely interested in Doug Liman’s upcoming sci-fi battle film Edge of Tomorrow, you might want to start.

The Twitter feed comes from the "war feed from Verdun, France," according to the bio, and recently began Tweeting grainy battle shots as Warner Bros. prepares to unveil the first full trailer for Tomorrow. That clip reportedly will land on the Internet on Wednesday, Dec. 11, and we’ll share it on the site (naturally). Until then, check out this report from the "front lines" before we dig deeper into Tomorrow, and what we expect to see in the trailer.

Scan the posts, which started several hours ago, and they tell of a battle against an enemy who wasn’t supposed to show up yet, and might have taken the European forces by surprise. We’re asked if the European armies are outmatched, and if the Americans should jump in and help.

From everything we know about Edge of Tomorrow, our hero, Bill Cage (Tom Cruise), doesn’t get such options. He’s immediately thrust into battle in a distant future, forced to fight in combat despite his ridiculous lack of training. Needless to say, despite his futuristic exoskeleton, Cage is killed. Instantly. Except, because Tomorrow riffs on Groundhog Day in a strange fashion, Cage learns that he is resurrected, and forced to live the same battle, over and over. He gets better at fighting, as time goes on. But how will he ever break out of the vicious loop that’s currently consuming his actions?

Edge of Tomorrow once went by the MUCH better name of All You Need Is Kill, which is being adapted from a story by Hiroshi Sakurazaka of the same name. Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie tackled the screenwriting duties for Tomorrow, with Liman directing. Liman helmed the initial Bourne adventure, as well as Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. He also dabbled in sci-fi for 2008’s Jumper, which gives me a sliver of hope that he’ll bring eye-popping visuals and a brain to Tomorrow.

We’ll know a lot more about the film after Wednesday, when the first trailer shows its cards. Edge of Tomorrow co-stars Cruise and Emily Blunt. It opens everywhere on June 6, 2014.
