Trailer For Morgan Spurlock's Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope Arrives Online

The experience of attending Comic Con in San Diego is likely different for everyone. I like to think of it to be a sort of rock concert for geeks. Not only is it a chance to celebrate the movies, TV shows, comics and costumes we love, but also an opportunity to be surrounded by people who are just as excited to be there. There’s an energy at the convention that’s not quite comparable to anything else I’ve ever experienced.

Just watching the trailer for Morgan Spurlock’s documentary Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope has me itching to return to San Diego, and fondly reminiscing past visits to the convention. Directed by Spurlock (Super Size Me), the documentary looks at the annual San Diego Comic-Con through five attendees who visit the event. It looks like we catch a glimpse of at least some of them in the trailer, which was posted by iTunes. You’ll also see Seth Rogan and Kevin Smith, both of whom share some of their thoughts on the convention.

It seems like the documentary is going to showcase various angles of the convention, with a collector, a geek and a designer all featured in the above trailer. Between the comics, the toys, video games, and panels for just about anything worth geeking out over, there’s certainly enough ground for the documentary to cover. Showing the event through the eyes of five different people should offer a personal touch, and some interesting perspectives on the convention.

With Spurlock at the helm, and the involvement of people like Joss Whedon, Stan Lee, and Jeremy Chilnick, who shares a writing credit for the documentary The Greatest Movie Ever Sold with Spurlock, we may be in for something very entertaining and interesting, especially for those of us with an interest in Comic-Con and general geek/pop culture.

Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope releases in theaters on April 6, 2012.
