Transformers: Age Of Extinction Unleashes Mayhem In Super Bowl Trailer

Mayhem and chaos – or "Bay-hem" and "Bay-os" – reigned supreme in the first official trailer for Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction, which just aired during the Super Bowl.

By the looks of it, Bay isn’t going down any new avenues in his fourth Transformers movie. Mark Wahlberg stands in for Shia LaBeouf, but the mechical-tentacled Transformer robots are still the selling point of the upcoming summer blockbuster.

There was no sign of a plot. (Is there ever?) We mainly see humans screaming in terror as they run – in slow motion – away from explosions created by the Autobots and the Decepticons. It will be interesting to see what Bay does to follow up the leveling of a U.S. city in Dark of the Moon. We’re going to have to wait to see what direction Bay and his new crew want to take this franchise. For now, what did you think of this splashy Super Bowl spot. Because at the very least, all it did was serve to let casual movie-going audiences know that a new Transformers movie is coming… because they might not have known prior to this.

Age of Extinction opens in theaters on June 27.
