Now that greed has been proven not to be not so good, Oliver Stone is revisiting his classic capitalism movie Wall Street, with a sequel.
Variety says he’s signed on to helm Wall Street 2 for 20th Century Fox, a sequel to Stone’s original 1987, Michael Douglas starring movie. Douglas, is already on board to join the sequel and reprise the role of Gordon Gekko. Shia LaBeouf is also currently in negotiations to join the cast alongside him. No word on who he’ll play, but it’d be easy to picture him as son of Gekko.
The movie, as you’d expect with a Stone flick, was borne out of the recent economic troubles. Obviously it’s an idea that’s now worth revisiting. The sequel will involve the recent economic meltdown, created by the greed and corruption of people like our old friend Mr. Gekko.
