Warcraft May Have A Very Cool Plan For Releasing Its First Trailers

Since Warcraft wrapped production at some point early last year, fans and spectators alike have been waiting for their first look at the Duncan Jones-directed adaptation in motion. Much like any other film, Warcraft will naturally have an interesting trailer to tease the audience into coming along for the ride. What's different about the film's possible approach to marketing itself, however, is the fact that the director, as well as the studio, are considering the possibility of dropping not one, but two trailers out of the gate - each one representing one of the film's waring factions.

This interesting development comes courtesy of Duncan Jones' personal Twitter feed, where the responded to a fan question about the possibility of seeing both Alliance and Horde themed trailers when the marketing for Warcraft starts getting into full swing. You can read his response to the query below

While major motion pictures tend to run, at least, three or four trailers over time before their film is released, Warcraft is looking to make it to the halfway mark right from the start. Considering the faction-based nature of the game's scenarios, it wouldn't be a huge surprise that such a strategy were to be employed in the marketing. Both trailers can be released at the same time, and be linked by a common event but show both the Alliance and the Horde's perspective on the developments.

With Blackhat and Seventh Son both tanking at the box office in a bad way, it will be interesting to see how Warcraft is potentially affected. For years it's been a somewhat fearful prospect to throw a lot of money and a fair amount of star power at a full blown Warcraft picture, and now that Legendary Pictures is off to a rocky start in 2015 the movie's success is starting to look necessary. Especially considering that Legendary are the ones footing the brunt of their film's budgets, as well as the totality of their promotional budgets.

It's a good thing Warcraft has positioned itself for a March 11, 2016 release date; as anything after Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice and before Captain America: Civil War is surely going to have more than some difficulties claiming its own piece of the box office pie. Any and all help Duncan Jones can get from the marketing department at Legendary and Universal is going to be beneficial, and releasing a dueling narrative duology of trailers could be a bold move to lure folks into seeing another big deal RPG being adapted for the silver screen. Fingers crossed we get to see our first looks at Warcraft real soon, though if we were to guess, we'd say Jurassic World would be a good start for the Warcraft marketing push!
