Watch Joel McHale's Perfect Prometheus Parody From The Soup

A lot of the trailers and TV spots for Prometheus have been rightfully criticized for spoiling too much about the movie, but the viral marketing has been completely perfect, and none better than the "Happy Birthday, David" video that emerged online a few months ago. Introducing us to Michael Fassbender's android character David, the video had gorgeous production values and enough sci-fi wonder to make the entire movie look fascinating. In case you missed it, here's that video below.

And while you probably didn't watch that video and think "Hey, it would have been even better with Joel McHale in it," The Soup has executed a pitch-perfect parody of it anyway, introducing McHale as the android talk show host who thinks about almost anything… but mostly Ryan Seacrest and Kardashians. Watch the video below and prepare to have your mind blown.

I tend to underestimate what a strong actor McHale is, since I only watch The Soup occasionally and his work on Community tends to be as the straight man amid that show's lunacy. But he makes a really convincing imitation of Fassbender's fantastic work as David-- not as great, of course, but enough to make for an immediately hilarious parody. I'm still pretty sure I prefer Fassbender in the actual film, but if McHale wants on board as an android in the next Prometheus movie, he might have gotten the gig.

Prometheus opens in theaters tomorrow, and if you're intrigued by what you've seen here, you definitely owe the movie a watch-- and apparently because The Soup produces such parody greatness, we owe it a watch too.
