Watch Nearly 15 Minutes Of Thor: The Dark World's Behind-The-Scenes Footage
As this video offers plenty of glimpses into the production of Thor: The Dark World, there may be some spoilers within it. Watch at your own risk.
Ever wonder about all the work that goes on behind the scenes on epic superhero movies? Well, Bleeding Cool has uncovered a treasure trove of footage for the upcoming Thor: The Dark World that clocks in just under 15 minutes and gives plenty of insight into the inner workings of Marvel's latest tent pole release, even without uttering any dialogue.
In the video above, you can see Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgård, Jaimie Alexander, Christopher Eccleston, Idris Elba, and Tom Hiddleston in action. Get a sense of how director Alan Taylor and cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau captured some of the shots we've seen in clips and trailers. Plus, you can see how some of the movie's action sequences begin with practical effects and stunt work, as well as how green screen and blue screen technology is relied on.
Even without the color correct that give movies their final visual punch, the footage above is something to marvel. The set design is meticulous and grand. The costumes thoughtfully give character context. And the performances are intriguing even in this silent form.
In Thor, the titular Asgardian prince was pitted against his brother Loki in a bid for their father's crown and the fate of Earth, where the former had been exiled and made friends. In its sequel, Thor: The Dark World, these sons of Odin must reconcile to fight off an ancient race led by the vengeance-fueled Malekith that is a new threat to all the nine realms, including Asgard and Earth. You know the situation must be dire if Thor is forced to depend on the trickster god Loki. But this new adventure also reunites Thor with his Earthling lady love Jane Foster, though she is still smarting from his abrupt and unexplained abandonment.
