Which Avenger Tom Holland Wants To Appear In Spider-Man: Homecoming
Captain America: Civil War is just a week away, and fans can barely contain their excitement over the superhero romp. In addition to seeing almost every major character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe team up and fight each other, we’re also going to be introduced to a few new characters. Arguably the most exciting of these newcomers is Tom Holland’s new adaptation of Spider-Man. Spidey will be diving into the MCU head first, meeting almost everyone in one fell swoop. With his solo flick, Spider-Man: Homecoming currently in development, fans have been wondering how many Avengers might make appearances.
It was previously announced that Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man will have a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, so who else might jump into the action? It turns out Tom Holland has some ideas of his own, and recently shared them with MTV.
There you go, people. Tom Holland wants both stars of Captain America: Civil War to make an appearance in his solo film. If you’re going to make a wish list, you might as well go big.
One of the best parts about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the constant crossovers that occur in both the films and TV series. Marvel has done a great job at crafting a fully realized universe, with characters that all interact and have histories with each other. It will be interesting to see how Spider-Man fits into that world. Rather than an adult with a dark past, Peter Parker is a high school student with a fresh perspective on the world. Logistically, it will be fun to see how various Avengers somehow end up in his world. Luckily, he’s typically from New York which we’ve seen is a common setting in the MCU.
Tom Holland’s wish for Captain America to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming might also give us a hint regarding the plot of Captain America: Civil War. Much debate and speculation has been happening regarding which character might die in Civil War. One of the most likely candidates is Cap himself, with the possibility of Bucky taking up the mantle in the wake of his death. If Steve Rogers dies during the events of Civil War, it’s not likely that he’ll be able to team up with Spidey in a future film. Did he accidentally just give us a spoiler? Only time will tell.
Who would you like to see pop up in Spider-man: Homecoming? If he is a NYC resident, the logical choice might be one of the characters from Netflix’s various Marvel series. If a villain is causing chaos in the big apple, it would be a great opportunity for the likes of Daredevil or Jessica Jones to finally appear on the big screen. Of course, the legality of each title makes this unlikely, but hey I can hope.
Be sure to check out Spider-Man alongside Iron Man, Cap, and all the rest when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6th. Spider-Man: Homecoming currently has a release date of July 7th, 2017.
