Why Stephen Colbert Isn't Ready For Rogue One
Although we haven’t even come down from the high of Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet, there’s still more Star Wars on the way. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is less than a year away, and it goes without saying that everyone’s beyond excited for the film. One such person who seems ecstatic about the movie is late night host Stephen Colbert. However, as he pointed out on a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he isn’t ready for Rogue One at all.
During a recent taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the titular host humorously explained that he isn’t prepared for Rogue One because we just got an amazing Star Wars movie only a few months ago:
I'd be lying if I said I didn’t agree with him. Although we have become generally accustomed to major franchises pumping out sequels on a fairly consistent basis over the years, the Star Wars universe has only recently jumped on that bandwagon. In days gone by, we would have to wait years in between Star Wars movies. Now we live in an age where two Star Wars movies will hit theaters within the same calendar year. He would go on to explain that, despite the jarring nature of the release schedule, he will still be one of the first in line to see Rogue One, the Han Solo spinoff movie, the Boba Fett spinoff movie, Episode VIII, and every other Star Wars movie slated to come out in the near future.
It makes sense that Stephen Colbert took the time to talk about the Rogue One trailer. Over the years he has proven himself to be one of the biggest nerds in entertainment – and we love him for it. Between recapping the plot of the original Star Wars trilogy (in record time) to predicting the plot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with shocking accuracy, the late night host and funnyman has established that he’s most certainly one of us when it comes to having a deep-seated passion for the world of Star Wars.
