Why Zack Snyder Hasn't Filmed Any Wonder Woman Scenes Yet

Wonder Woman is going to be an integral part of Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. She hasn’t received a splashy promo image like her JLA colleagues Batman and Superman. But we know who is playing her (Gal Gadot), and how much of her we’ll likely see in the movie. Yet, Snyder dropped a little nugget that’s either a major surprise, or a distinct use of superhero misdirection.

In a USA Today exclusive that showed us Henry Cavill in the Superman suit (standing in Gotham, perhaps, as many have speculated), Zack Snyder claims that he hasn’t films any scenes with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman yet. The director went so far as to say:

"She’s working out and getting buffed and ripped."

But she hasn’t filmed any scenes yet, according to the director.

Reason to panic? Absolutely not. Lest we remind you, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice remains two years away, "racing" to meet a release date of May 6, 2016. Snyder, Gadot and the team behind the expanding DC Cinematic Universe have time to get their ducks in a row, and the emphasis – so far – has been placed on Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, and the wave of casting rumors that come with the construction of an on-screen Justice League. Am I right, Jason Momoa?

This bit of information does, however, throw a wet blanket over the possibility that we’d see footage of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman at San Diego Comic-Con. There have been reports that Warner Bros. would unveil their massive DC plans with a bombastic panel, likely in Hall H. And we assumed (perhaps falsely) that footage Zack Snyder has been shooting in Michigan could be shown to fans. And that still might be the case. But based on Snyder’s comments, this either means: a) The footage will only have Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill); or, b) Snyder is fibbing so the surprise of seeing Gal Gadot in her Wonder Women duds will blow the roof off of Hall H. Like when this happened.

We’ll know soon whether Zack Snyder was telling the truth about Gal Gadot’s lack of filming. There were Twitter posts about the actress being spotted on set in Michigan. But were they scenes? Has she twirled a lasso yet? Maybe she’s just riding in her invisible jet? Stay tuned for Comic-Con, when all should be revealed.
