One Justice League Cast Member Expects To Be Back For Ben Affleck’s Solo Batman Movie
The solo Batman movie has easily become one of the DCEU's best-kept secrets. Ben Affleck has played coy with pretty much every major detail related to the film, and kept us in the dark every step of the way. Even the finer details about the film's core ensemble remains a mystery. However, it now seems that J.K. Simmons definitely expects to make an appearance as Jim Gordon in the Batman movie after his debut in Justice League. He said:
During a recent conversation with Yahoo Movies, J.K. Simmons spoke at length about his excitement to reunite with Ben Affleck on the upcoming Batman solo movie. He praised the Batman actor's talents as a performer, as well as his knack for writing and directing, citing his deep-seated commitment to the craft. Based upon his comments about working alongside Affleck, it seems fairly reasonable to assume that we will definitely see Gotham's best cop waiting by the Bat Signal on the roof of GCPD at some point when The Caped Crusader gets his own film.
As odd as it may seem, up until now there really wasn't a concrete guarantee that Commissioner Gordon would even appear in the Batman solo movie. The DCEU has thus far been pretty nonchalant about taking major characters off of the table very quickly (Jimmy Olsen comes to mind) and the possibility of Gordon dying at some point during the events of Zack Snyder's Justice League films has remained a persistent fear for many Batman fans. No matter what, it now looks like Gordon will at least live to see Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke come to town.
The Oscar winner's involvement in the solo Batman movie only adds to the growing sense that this could definitely become the definitive Batman movie. With an incredibly talented actor under the cowl, a "villain heavy" storyline, and one of Batman's most trusted allies waiting in the wings, this story could really ripped straight from the pages of DC Comics. Now we just need Ben Affleck to come clean and tell us the film's actual title.
CinemaBlend will bring you more information concerning the upcoming Batman solo movie as new details become available. Ben Affleck's Batman and J.K. Simmons' Gordon will share the silver screen for the very first time when Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017. For now, you can see both of them in The Accountant, which is currently in theaters.
