Suicide Squad Celebrates Halloween With A Joker-Heavy Promo Clip
Arguably no Batman rogue is more terrifying than The Joker. Sure, Two Face has a horrifically scarred visage, and Scarecrow quite literally induces fear with his gas, but The Clown Prince of Crime has an inherent ability to scare the daylights out of us that simply cannot be ignored. He's the sort of character that undoubtedly loves Halloween, and a new Suicide Squad promo seemingly capitalizes on that. Check it out below.
That promo may be short, but it's definitely sweet. The clip teases the upcoming home release of Suicide Squad and puts the spotlight firmly on Jared Leto's Mr. J -- which is something we're sure the character loves. Highlighting the sheer amount of fun the villain has while he causes all sorts of chaos wherever he goes, the video takes the notion of trick or treat to its logical extreme. No matter what he's doing, he always has a smile on his face.
It's far from surprising that the folks behind Suicide Squad want to use The Joker to capitalize on the spookiest holiday of the year. After all, his corner of the Batman mythos became incredibly popular this year. As it turns out, The Joker was the second most popular Halloween costume of 2016, and the first (as you probably guessed) was his beloved girlfriend, Harley Quinn.
Of course, it's also worth noting that (in true Joker fashion) The Clown Prince of Crime still has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. While the character was wildly underserved during the events of Suicide Squad's theatrical cut, the Extended Edition of the film will provide quite a bit more insight into many of the character's cut scenes. These cut sequence include far more of his torture of Harleen Quinzel in Arkham Asylum, as well as a sequence in which she pulls a gun on him -- you can see a screen grab of the sequence above. The Joker is one of those characters that always seems to keep coming back for more, and the Extended Edition of Suicide Squad will take that idea one step further.
