Weird Trailer Imagines Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 As A Horror Movie, James Gunn Approves
It's November 1st, and Halloween has come and gone once again -- but that doesn't mean that we can't still revel in some of the holiday's leftover spookiness. With that in mind, I present you with this new, special horror-remixed cut of the recently-released teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
This seriously bizarre video comes to us from YouTube user Aldo Jones, who has made a habit of cutting bizarre versions of studio-released trailers -- and this one fits right in with the tradition. The remix puts together the first official footage from writer/director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with pretty fantastic horror imagery, and the results are great fun.
At first it starts off a bit ordinary -- inserting famous characters like Samara from The Ring and Jason from Friday The 13th into the mix:
But it gets much weirder from that point forward. Eventually we get to see things like giant popcorn kernals surrounding costumed Rocket and Yondu, flying Ghostfaces, and Gamora whipping out her broomstick next to a giant Jack O'Lantern:
And let's pay special tribute to Nebula -- who looks like she has suffered at the hands of a brain-hungry zombie attack.
Like the original Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 spot, the fun edit ends with the re-introduction of Baby Groot, but does so in Xenomorph style (much to Rocket's clear dismay):
It was this final moment that apparently really got James Gunn laughing, as he actually shared the video with his friends and fans on his official Facebook page:

Given James Gunn's roots in the horror genre, this is a pretty natural, weird trailer remix, and it makes for a really great video. Hopefully it won't be long before we see another Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer so that Aldo Jones can start working on a sequel.
