One Batman Villain Definitely Won’t Be In Ben Affleck’s Movie

The upcoming Batman solo movie has become one of the most highly anticipated comic book films of all time. With an accomplished lead actor, director, and writer in the form of Ben Affleck, we can rest assured knowing that all of the film's characters will be perfectly realized. However, it now seems that one notably iconic Batman villainess won't make an appearance. Sorry, Catwoman fans, but it looks like her introduction to the DCEU will take longer than expected.

Fandango's Erik Davis has taken to Twitter to reveal that Sienna Miller recently admitted that she wants to portray Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman in Ben Affleck's solo Batman movie. However, the character is not officially in the script, and as such she wants to write the feline-themed thief into the story herself. Given the chemistry we have already seen between Miller and Affleck in the trailers for Live By Night, we think that could be a great matchup if it were to happen.

This means that, while the solo Batman movie will feature a particularly "villain-heavy" storyline, not every villain will make an appearance. It's actually somewhat surprising to learn that the iconic cat burglar has not actually been confirmed for the project. Bruce Wayne's mention of knowing "a few women" like Wonder Woman during the events of Dawn of Justice seemed like a thinly veiled reference to Ms. Kyle.

Catwoman

That being said, there's also an argument to be made that omitting Catwoman from this film is the right decision to make. Catwoman is one of the most well established villains in the live-action Batman canon, and as such Ben Affleck may want to devote more time to exploring characters that haven't appeared quite as often over the years. After all, following two stellar performances from Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway, it could be time to shelve the character for a brief period.

However, it's noting that Ben Affleck has specifically confirmed nothing about this situation. Sienna Miller may have stated that Catwoman's not in the Batman script, but she's also not involved in the development of the movie.

Even if Catwoman does not appear in the solo Batman movie, DC may still find a place for her within the DCEU. The Harley Quinn solo movie appears to be packing its roster with awesome, Gotham-based female characters, so it's not outside the realm of possibility for Selina Kyle to debut in that particular film first. Let's hope the producers keep Sienna Miller in mind.

CinemaBlend will bring you any and all relevant details related to the development of the upcoming solo Batman movie as more information becomes available to us. The Dark Knight's next adventure does not have a confirmed release date.
