Extended Rogue One TV Spot Shows Jyn Picking Up An Important Ally
The next chapter of the Star Wars universe is less than a month away and as we creep closer we're getting just a bit more information about some of the members of the team called Rogue One, and how they will work together. A new TV spot highlights the relationship between Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor and how it will grow over the course of the film.
The marketing for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has evolved in an interesting way over the last few months. At first, Jyn Erso was presented as a lone wolf who was being more or less forced into working for the Rebel Alliance. One got the impression that she wasn't used to working with others, and wasn't particularly excited by the concept. While we all likely expected that attitude to change over the course of Rogue One, the recent marketing for the movie has gone ahead and shown us that Jyn Erso is going to become as strong a cheerleader for the Rebellion as anybody. The new TV spot shows one way in which she will learn to work with people. Diego Luna plays Captain Cassian Andor, a member of the Rebel Alliance who wants in on the mission that's been given to Jyn.
It's not exactly clear why it is that Cassian is so intent on being part of the team to steal the Death Star plans. Whether he has an agenda or just wants to make his mark in the battle against the Empire is unknown. What's clear is that both he and Jyn Erso are committed to striking a blow for the Rebellion. It appears that the two bond over their drive to make the mission succeed. At the close of the spot, we see Jyn, Cassian and K-2SO as they are likely about to walk right into whatever Imperial base houses the plans they're after. The three are in disguise and they have no idea what they're in for. Jyn takes a minute to make eye contact with Cassian, we can tell the two have already been through a lot together up to this point. That look says a lot, even if we're not sure exactly what it is at this point.
The vast majority of the promotional material for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has focused on Jyn Erso and as such we know very little about most of the other members of the infiltration team. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a series of spots that will give us a chance to see Jyn's relationship with the rest of the team.
