Marvel Reveals Another Alien Who’ll Appear In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

The parade of brand new Marvel characters joining Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 never seems to end. Just when we thought we'd seen them all, we get one more. James Gunn recently dropped an image online of a character that fans of the Guardians comic might know well. Say hello to Brahl.

In this case, Brahl is being played by Stephen Blackehart, somebody that long time fans of James Gunn movies might recognize. Gunn refers to him as a friend in his Instagram post and based on Blackehart's filmography, we can see that this is true. The actor has had roles in most if not all of the movies that James Gunn has been involved in. He's also playing a role in the upcoming movie The Belko Experiment which was written by Gunn, though he's not directing it.

Brahl is a minor character in the history of the Guardians of the Galaxy, though, his appearance could potentially hint toward other aliens we may see in the movie. Brahl was a member of the villain team known as the Minions of Menace. There were three other members of the group, and we haven't heard anything about those characters making an appearance.

At this point, we don't really expect this Brahl to be the Brahl from the comics. The Minions were assembled by the super powerful villain Korvac to fight against both the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor. While it's possible that we could be getting a modified version of that story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 with so much of the movie being apparently focused on Peter Quill and his parantage, we don't see Korvac or his Minions finding a place here. Maybe down the road.

Instead, it's much more likely that Brahl is being used for some other purpose in the films. Based on Stephen Blackehart's previous roles in James Gunn movies, he played the role of "Knowhere Dispatcher" in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, this is a small part. It's doubtful we'll even actually get the character's name in the movie.

Brahl

Still, while looking significantly different from his comic book counterpart, Brahl looks pretty cool. If Brahl does mean the Minions of Menace will be in the movie we can't wait to see them. If the character means that we may see them in the future, that'd be ok too.
