Despite the ending of Friends, one of the most broadly enjoyable sitcoms ever made, the world has kept on spinning. Since it's finale in 2004, two big things have happened: we entered the new golden age of TV with high quality serialized storytelling and the Superhero Boom. Superheroes on movies and TV are all the rage right now, and more and more movie stars are returning to TV. Jennifer Aniston herself is considering a return to the small screen and she wouldn't turn her nose at playing a superhero either.
It's been a long time since Jennifer Aniston was headlining a TV show, but with television officially rivaling film, the actress has been considering a return. On Chelsea, Chelsea Handler's Netflix talk show, Aniston told Handler that she and frequent collaborator Jason Bateman are looking at doing something on TV. The subject somehow switched to superheroes, and while she hasn't gotten any offers, Aniston would definitely play one. She wouldn't play your typical cape and cowl hero; she needs something a little more incompetent than that.
First off, I would really be into the idea of a TV show from Jennifer Anniston and Jason Bateman. Secondly, when I picture Aniston has a superhero, my mind came up with Black Canary, but I can't really see that working or happening. There aren't a lot of bumbling female superheroes that match what Aniston wants. Squirrel Girl might be the closest, but that's just in her appearance; she's actually quite hyper-confident and capable.
While some might find it hard seeing Jennifer Aniston has a superhero, the former Friends actress has been taking a lot more edgy roles lately. She played hard-nosed women in movies such as Horrible Bosses, We're the Millers, and the upcoming Office Christmas Party. She could probably handle the ass kicking a superhero role would require quite handily.
You can check out Anniston talk about the idea herself in this clip from Chelsea below.
What do all think? What superhero can you see Jennifer Aniston playing? Can you see her as one at all?
