Star Wars: Possible Episode 8 Title Revealed
In a world where every detail regarding blockbusters and TV series are constantly spoiled, the Star Wars franchise stands out. In order for the fandom to properly experience each new installment, Disney and company have been keeping their cards extremely close to their chest. The footage released ahead of both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rouge One: A Star Wars Story has been fairly scarce, which results in true moments of surprise and joy in movie theaters. With Rogue One hitting theaters in just a few weeks, the time has come to look forward to the mysterious Episode VIII. And now we might know what the title for the next Skywalker sequel is.
AVS Forum has used their eagle eyed for a quick bit of detective work. Lucasfilm has reportedly submitted a title to the European Union Intellectual Property Office for the next movie. So what is the rumored title? Apparently, the next installment will be Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.
I've got to admit, I don't hate Forces of Destiny as a possible title for Episode VIII. Keeping to to the theme of The Force reawakening, Episode VIII will see newcomer Rey finally under the tutelage and guidance of Luke Skywalker. Their collective force abilities are something powerful, and it appears that the two heroes' destiny was to meet each other at the end of The Force Awakens. Additionally, there is the dark force power of Kylo Ren, yet another force of destiny that will appear in Episode VIII.
Of course, this rumored title could be total BS. Just because someone filed for the rights to Star Wars: Forces of Destiny doesn't necessarily mean that it was the House of Mouse and Lucasfilm. Another option is that Forces of Destiny can be some sort of working title for the film. Again, I like the title, but let's explore all of our options here.
News of Episode VIII's title should hopefully be official soon. With the hype and anticipation over Rogue One only continuing to grow, it would be the perfect time to reveal the next film's title. While the rabid fanbase is excitedly anticipating the return of Darth Vader and the galaxy far, far away with the standalone movie, it seems right that they would also help tease next year's installment in the franchise. And what better way than to finally reveal what the blockbuster will be titled?
As always, be sure to check back with us here at CinemaBlend for updates on all things Star Wars. With Disney planning to release a new movie every December for the foreseeable future, there is sure to be plenty of news to hold us over while we wait for each installment.
The franchise's first standalone film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will fly into theaters December 16th, 2017.
