By now you have probably heard that yesterday was an intense time for Star Wars fans all over the world. Princess Leia herself, Carrie Fisher, suffered a massive heart attack on an airplane and was ultimately rushed to a Los Angeles hospital for treatment. The incident caused a total uproar in Hollywood, and a number of Fisher's Star Wars co-stars flocked to the internet to voice their support for the icon. Like so many other people around the world, Mark Hamill seems to understand that 2016 hasn't exactly been the best year. His tweet laments the sheer brutality of the year, and wishes his on-screen sibling well in her recovery. The two have shared a deep on-screen bond over the course of the last four decades, and it's clear that their love for one another comes from a very real place.
Mark Hamill obviously wasn't the only actor from the original trilogy to chime in on the matter. Billy Dee Williams (also known as the smoothest scoundrel in the galaxy, Lando Calrissian) similarly took to Twitter to wish Carrie Fisher well in her recovery; here's what he had to say.
Aside from Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams, some notable newcomers also got in on the action as well. The Force Awakens' Gwendoline Christie tweeted out her support for the original Star Wars heroine as well -- thus proving that the Star Wars universe is an ever growing and ever expanding family. Of course, this is only a small handful of reactions to yesterday's tense situation. The entire Internet community rallied around Carrie Fisher's recovery, and it really showed how universally loved she has become since the days of A New Hope. After all, she was the first of the main human characters to appear in the original Star Wars trilogy, and she was responsible for putting the first film's plot in motion. No CGI stand-in can ever completely replace her. This year has taken a number of icons from us, but for now it seems that Carrie Fisher will hopefully be okay.
