Robert Downey Jr. Teases Big Changes For Iron Man’s Armor
As Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues on, we get gradually closer to a precipice for the shared universe. Because after the next two Avengers films, many of the MCU's biggest hitters will reach the end of their contracts. Additionally, Infinity War will unite every MCU hero, changing the overall dynamics of the franchise. And now fans are buzzing about one more possible change after Robert Downey Jr. teased some fan art changes to Iron Man's signature armor.
Robert Downey Jr. has played Iron Man since the MCU's very first film, but his suits haven't changed all that drastically. But maybe that could be changing? RDJ recently shared an image of an Asgardian version of the Iron Man Suit via his Facebook. Check it out.
Do you hear that? It's the collective nerdgasms of the MCU's many fans.
This image is sure to set the internet buzzing, as an Asgardian version of Iron Man's armor is pretty much the coolest thing imaginable. But let's explore all of our options here.
One possibility is that this type of armor will be constructed in Infinity War, in an attempt to give Tony more power against Thanos and his forces. The battle will be the biggest in the MCU's history, so the OG Avenger may want a bit more protection. After all, we all saw how messed up War Machine got after the battle from Captain America: Civil War.
But with Thor: Ragnarok seemingly promising the destruction of Asgard, there's some serious holes in this theory. In the trailer, we see Cate Blanchett's Hela proclaim that Asgard is dead, as well as her destruction of Thor's hammer. And the word Ragnarok literally means the destruction of the cosmos, so it should be interesting to see how and if Asgard ends up by the end of the film.
It's also important to note that the above image isn't an actual confirmation of Iron Man's new armor. It is fan art that has been floating around for awhile. Robert Downey Jr. could have just found the awesome image on the internet and shared with his fans via social media. After all, not every tweet or Facebook post is official canon. But RDJ also knows how rabid the MCU fanbase is, so sharing a cryptic image like this was bound to send the fans into a frenzy.
