Aquaman Has Added A Power Rangers Star

Ludi Lin in Power Rangers

Jason Momoa will lead Aquaman next year after playing the trident-wielding hero in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, but he isn't the only cast member with superhero media experience. Willem Dafoe played Green Goblin in the 2002 Spider-Man movie, Nicole Kidman acted in Batman Forever as Dr. Chase Meridian and Dolph Lundgren is still recurring as Konstantin Kovar on Arrow. Now we've learned that Ludi Lin, who battled Rita Repulsa earlier this year in Power Rangers, has been added to Aquaman as one of Arthur Curry's loyal warriors.

Fresh off his stint playing the Black Ranger in the re-imagining of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers TV series, Deadline reports that Ludi Lin is joining Aquaman as Murk, who in the comics leads the Men-Of-War, Atlantis' front-line army. Aquaman also counts Murk as one of his closest allies, so expect Lin and Jason Momoa to share a decent amount of screen time. As you'll see from the image below, though, if Aquaman will make its version of Murk look like the one from the comics, then Lin will be going through quite the makeup process during production.

Murk in Aquaman

After starring in the Chinese movie Monster Hunt and appearing in an episode of Netflix's Marco Polo, Ludi Lin left his first stamp on Hollywood this March with the release of Power Rangers, where he appeared as Zack the Black Ranger and co-starred alongside Dacre Montgomery (Jason the Red Ranger), Naomi Scott (Kimberly the Red Ranger), RJ Cyler (Billy the Blue Ranger) and Becky G (Trini the Yellow Ranger). Following the re-imagining of the teenagers with attitude, now he gets to hop to the DC Extended Universe and take part in underwater shenanigans. As for Murk, he was introduced during Geoff Johns' Aquaman run in the New 52 only a few years ago, so the Aquaman movie will have more creative freedom with how it adapts him compared to most of the other characters.

Besides Ludi Lin as Murk and Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Aquaman's cast includes Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm (a.k.a. Ocean Master), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry and Dolph Lundgren as Nereus. No specific plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie will take place after Justice League and follow Arthur as he attends to his royal duties in Atlantis and keeps both the surface world and the Seven Seas safe.

Directed by James Wan and written by Will Beall, Aquaman swims into theaters on December 21, 2018.
