Avengers: Infinity War Is Going To Give Us A Hilarious New Superhero Bromance

Star Lord Thor Bromance

Bromances have defined the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years. Whether it's Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan), or Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), some of the best moments in any MCU movie have relied on the firm chemistry between two macho heroes. It now seems that The Avengers: Infinity War will feature a brand new bromance for audiences to get excited about: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Infinity War director Joe Russo recently opened up about the impending friendship, saying:

You know what's interesting is that because of the re-toning that Taika [Waititi] did with Thor 3 and the direction Thor is heading in as a character, he and Star-Lord were a very surprising combination and a very funny combination. So I'm excited for the audience to see the two of them together.

Honestly, just a few short years ago, Thor and Star-Lord may not have made for a fascinating combination. However, now that director Taika Waititi is moving in a more comedic and fantastical direction with the character for Thor: Ragnarok, the potential for a great bromance with Guardians of the Galaxy's leading man is seemingly limitless. Think about it, if you put two of the most charismatic actors named Chris on a set together, you're bound to get cinematic gold.

Based on the early Infinity War footage shown at D23 and San Diego Comic-Con, it looks like this excellent dynamic between Star-Lord and Thor may actually be one of the first things that we will see when the upcoming Avengers epic debuts in theaters. The trailer begins with the Guardians finding Thor floating through space (possibly suggesting a not-so-happy ending for Ragnarok), and he may actually be the one who brings Peter Quill back to Earth to face off against Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Of course, Joe Russo's hints to IGN of a looming bromance between Thor and Peter Quill only begins to scratch the surface of what's possible in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once all of our heroes convene for Infinity War. We have already seen hints at the great chemistry between guys like Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) in Scott Lang's first solo movie, and Captain America: Civil War gave us a brief look at what Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) can do together. Fans have waited a long time to see all of these characters bounce off of one another, and it looks like Infinity War will seriously deliver the goods.

Star-Lord and Thor will meet face to face when The Avengers: Infinity War debuts next year on May 4, 2018. Before then, make sure to check out The God of Thunder's next silver screen adventure when Thor: Ragnarok debuts in theaters later this year on November 3, 2017.
