Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Dave Bautista May Be Joining Another Comic Book Movie
Dave Bautista has handily become one of Hollywood's most surprising finds of the last few years. Plucked from the world of wrestling, his work on the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has paved the way for an incredibly promising acting career. His tenure as Drax is, of course, the foundation of his popularity, but it seems that he has now started to gear up for another comic book adaptation -- this time in the world of Valiant Comics. In fact, the actor recently took to Twitter to reassure his fans that he will soon reenter the comic book adaptation world for a film version of Valiant's Eternal Warrior, saying:
This guy apparently likes to keep himself busy. Not only has Dave Bautista made a name for himself as Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, but he also portrayed Bond henchman Mr. Hinx in 2015's Spectre, a mysterious new character in Blade Runner 2049, and he will even have a role in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming Escape Plan sequel. On top of it all, he has still somehow managed to find time to help develop the Eternal Warrior film for Sony's growing Valiant universe. If you're a fan of comics but are tiring of Marvel or DC properties, this is something to get very excited about.
The underlying lore of Eternal Warrior is as deep as a mythology can get -- which is seriously saying something in the world of comic books. Centering on an immortal hero named Gilad Anni-Padda, the Valiant comic book series follows the perpetually youthful badass whose life began thousands of years before the dawn of the modern era. As a master tactician and virtually unkillable soldier, Gilad fights his way through time and takes part in every major war of the past, present, and future.
Beyond Dave Bautista's Eternal Warrior comments, it's also worth remembering that he isn't the only member of the Blade Runner 2049 cast currently in the running for a role in the upcoming Valiant cinematic universe. Jared Leto is also reportedly in talks to portray Bloodshot in one of the other solo movies currently planned for this burgeoning world. Sony has quite a bit invested in ensuring that this Valiant world goes off without a hitch and bringing in talented actors like Bautista and Leto would go a long way towards ensuring that success.
