John Boyega Confirms Three Major Star Wars: The Last Jedi Cameos

Finn in the Last Jedi trailer

The Star Wars franchise is famous for its intense security protocols and secrecy regarding the films' plots. The contents of each new film is kept a secret until its release, and usually more information continues trickling out in the months after each installment arrives. But one Last Jedi actor has gotten a bit chatty this morning, and revealed three celebs that are going to have cameos in Episode VIII. While appearing on a radio segment, John Boyega recently confirmed that both Prince Harry and Prince William were on set to film some sort of cameo, as well as acclaimed actor Tom Hardy.

This slip of new information came when John Boyega appeared this morning on BBC Radio 4 (via Screen Daily). When asked about the long rumored cameos from Prince William and Harry, Boyega finally spilled the beans, saying:

I've had enough with those secrets. They came on set. They were there. I'm sick of hiding it. I think it was leaked, anyway. There were images. Every time I get asked, I have to dodge it. I'm tired of dodging it. They were there. So was Tom Hardy.

Looks like the endless barrage of press question leading up to The Last Jedi's press tour has been agitating John Boyega, especially when it comes to the upcoming royal cameos. Boyega has been busy since The Force Awakens released, and he's had to answer a ton of Star Wars related questions while promoting his films Detroit and The Circle. Unfortunately, he's got a another few months of promoting to do, so it's unlikely that the inquiries are stopping anytime soon.

It should be interesting to see how Prince Harry, Prince William, and Tom Hardy are somehow worked into the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. J.J. Abrams included a ton of cameos in The Force Awakens, so something tells me that things will be handled similarly by Rian Johnson. For instance, Daniel Craig played a masked Stormtrooper that Rey hypnotized on Starkiller base, and Kevin Smith voiced another Stormtrooper earlier in the film.

While seeing the Princes of England on screen would likely take audiences out of the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if Tom Hardy was more visibly on screen during his cameo. The Star War franchise is full of strange aliens and seedy characters, and it would be awesome to see Hardy show up in an environment like that. The Last Jedi will contain a sequence in the casino planet Canto Bight, which might be the perfect opportunity for director Rian Johnson to sneak in a cameo or two

But we'll just have to wait a few more months to find out the truth. Star Wars: The Last Jedi will arrive in theaters on December 15th, 2017. In the meantime, check out our 2017 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
