Sylvester Stallone Is Back At The Gym For Rambo 5

Sylvester Stallone may be 72 years old, but if he's going to reprise his iconic role as Rambo next year, nothing's going to stop him from hitting the gym. Ten years after his last reprisal as the Vietnam veteran in 2008's Rambo, the rough-and-tough action hero will soon make another return in the upcoming Rambo 5, hitting theaters next fall. In preparation, Stallone took to Instagram to show just how immersed he is in staying in shape to come back as Rambo. Take a look:

The action icon is 100% immersed in pumping iron to get his guns ready to take on the Mexican cartels in 2019 with Rambo 5. The short video is a little too on the nose, as Sylvester Stallone rocks a black tee-shirt with John Rambo's face on it in his younger years and has "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses playing in the background before he says the title of the track himself. The film is set to start filming this month. so Stallone is likely trying to get as much gym time as possible to be in optimum shape to reprise one of his most famous roles. He has been teasing the upcoming film and his crazy workouts on Instagram frequently in anticipation for the next installment of the 36-year-old franchise.

In the past, Sylvester Stallone claimed he was over and done with the character of Rambo, saying his heart was willing but his body couldn't handle the physical part of playing the one man army. Perhaps after the high-acclaim Stallone received after his reprisal of Rocky Balboa in Ryan Coogler's Creed, which earned the action actor a Golden Globe win and Oscar nomination in 2015, his motivations changed-- although he took a backseat and left the fighting to Michael B. Jordan. Stallone and Jordan will soon continue the fighting champion story with Creed II when it hits theaters in November. Whether Rambo 5 will see as triumphant return as received with Creed isn't clear.

Unlike the other action stars of his age, Sylvester Stallone has pushed himself and his body to continue to be of prevalence in Hollywood with recent releases such as Creed, The Expendables and even with an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While details of how the next Rambo will play out are still scarce, Stallone doesn't let his age stop him from starring in the same films he was known for in his 30s.

The powerful soldier often armed with a knife, bow and his capable strong hands will return to the screen in fall 2019, this time just south of the border as he deals with Mexican drug cartels with Rambo 5 starring Sylvester Stallone.
