Would Emily Blunt Do A Mary Poppins Returns Sequel? Here's What She Says

We're less than a week away from the release of Mary Poppins Returns and already we're talking about a sequel. It took 54 years to make this sequel, and if it does well at the box office, we can probably expect another one in the near future. If Mary Poppins 3 does get a green light, Emily Blunt wants it on record that she would absolutely reprise her role as the title character.

Yes! I would! I want to be her again. I like being her. She's completely bizarre and unknowable. What I love about her is really what Travers said about her: 'In order to fly, you need something solid to take off from.' And I love that about her. Practical, yet magical.

So far, the movie has gotten positive reviews, with critics stating that's fun, magical, and feel-good, but a bit too reliant on nostalgia from the first movie. Nevertheless, a family-friendly, nostalgic Disney movie during the holidays will likely make a bazillion dollars, which means there's a good chance that Mary Poppins 3 isn't too far off.

One factor that will probably help in Disney's decision is that Emily Blunt is totally down for a sequel. The actress told CBS News that she loved playing the character and would definitely do it again if presented the opportunity. She loves how bizarre the character is, but practical at the same time.

Emily Blunt, who didn't base her performance off of Julie Andrews', has gotten praise for her work as Mary Poppins. Based on the released footage, it looks like this movie was a blast to film, so one can understand why Blunt would be down to fly in on a kite and dance with cartoon penguins.

Based on the children's book of the same name, Mary Poppins released in 1964 with Julie Andrews in the lead role. A little over half a century later, Mary Poppins Returns is just right around the corner. Emily Blunt is taking charge as the enigmatic nanny, who returns to help the now grown-up Banks children, now with kids of their own.

The film is directed by Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep.

Mary Poppins Returns is all set to hit theaters on December 19, so you don't have to wait much longer! To find out as much as you can about the movie, be sure to read our official review of the film.
