How Much Nudity Fifty Shades Darker Needs To Have, According To Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson went from near unknown to near household name after starring in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. While the movie was eviscerated by critics, it was embraced by fans (embraced, and then tied to the bed, likely). The novel the film was based on had two sequels and so the plan is for the movies to follow suit. This means we’ll be seeing much more of Dakota Johnson once again, although if she has anything to say about, she won’t be the only one you see.
If Dakota Johnson has her way, her co-star Jamie Dornan will be giving us the full monty in next year’s planned Fifty Shades Darker. In an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live alongside her How to be Single co-stars Leslie Mann and Alison Brie, Johnson was asked if she thought it was fair that we saw so much of her while comparatively little of Dornan.
The three actresses then discuss starting a petition or some other movement, we suppose, to convince the studio that this is a thing that needs to happen. We can’t disagree that there’s a total double standard in Hollywood when it comes to nudity and it’s pretty ridiculous. If you’re going to have a movie that’s about two people in a terribly unhealthy BDSM relationship, they're certainly going to appear naked together. When the camera is trying to avoid all nudity in order to achieve a lower rating, it’s one thing. But when you’re showing the woman, and then forcing the camera to do acrobatics in order to avoid showing a naked guy, it can get ridiculous.
We’ll see if Dakota Johnson actually gets in any trouble for the answer. To be fair, everybody on the show was drinking while these questions were being asked so it’s possible she was a little more honest than she otherwise might have been.
No word what Jamie Dornan’s wife thinks of this possibility. The first film’s production was reportedly quite hard on the actor’s marriage, which eventually led to rumors that he was going to walk away from the series. While he has since made his commitment clear, both he and Dakota Johnson are reportedly looking for more money in order to return for the sequels.
So this leaves just one question. Does everybody really want to see the D? Is Jamie Dornan’s junk a deal breaker when it comes to whether you’ll attend the Fifty Shades Darker? Obviously, if the ladies really want to start a campaign to make this happen, the best solution would be a hashtag. We’ll take your suggestions below.
