Patrick Stewart Really Wants To Work With Jennifer Lawrence, Find Out Why
Patrick Stewart has worked with an endless number of talented actors and actresses over the years. With a lengthy resume, and notable connections, Stewart has an opportunity to work with pretty much anyone he pleases. So while promoting his newest film, Match, the beloved actor shared whom he would most like to collaborate with in the future, and because of her brilliance, sense of humor, and beauty, Stewart chose Jennifer Lawrence.
This may seem surprising, given the age of Lawrence, and the different generation of actors that she coexists with. But, Stewart was given a glimpse of the young actress in action. The two starred in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but, they never actually got to work together, since Stewart’s character lived in the future time of the film, while Lawrence’s existed in the past. They never got to share a scene, but that doesn’t mean that Stewart wasn’t impressed. In an Entertainment Weekly Facebook Q&A, Stewart answered one fan's question about which actor or actress he would like to collaborate with. Stewart immediately answered:
I don’t think anyone could ask for a better compliment, especially from a critically-acclaimed actor like Patrick Stewart. Jennifer Lawrence, keep doing what you’re doing, because out of any actor in the world, PATRICK STEWART PICKED YOU, and I don’t know that there is any higher praise.
Granted, Stewart has already worked with some great names, but Lawrence is doing impressive work. Her roles on American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook were boasting with high quality acting. Plus, she really does bring a depth to the character of Mystique that every X-Men fan has been yearning for.
Unfortunately we will have wait a while for any collaboration between these two. Lawrence is currently working on the next installation of the X-Men films, X-Men: Apocalypse, which recently confirmed that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X will not show up in the film. It is set in the ‘80s, only focusing on the younger versions of the characters. Lawrence is also in pre-production for another upcoming film, Joy starring alongside Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, and Edgar Ramirez. And Patrick Stewart is quite busy himself with his new TV series, Blunt Talk on the radar.
Once their current projects let up though, man would we love to see the two together on screen. Could we just have a film about Patrick Stewart’s Professor X traveling back in time, just to hang out with Mystique? Just have the two of them bickering back and forth like the young James McAvoy Professor X did with Jennifer Lawrence in First Class but we’ll replace McAvoy with Stewart. Not that there’s anything wrong with McAvoy’s Xavier, but if Patrick Stewart wishes it, we need to make it happen.
