The 3-D animated film Igor has been a long time coming. Exodus Film Group is working to break into the animation business and their debut movie will be released by The Weinstein Company in October.
Voice talents on the project are stacked high and the list includes Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jennifer Coolidge, John Cusack, Arsenio Hall, Sean Hayes, Eddie Izzard, Jay Leno, Molly Shannon, and Christian Slater. Another high profile name, Patrick Doyle, has been added to the roster as the man behind the score.
Doyle's other recent exploits in the area of fantasy film music include Eragon, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and the upcoming Nim's Island.
Igor, according to the Exodus web site, "is a playfully irreverent comedy that brings a new twist to the classic monster genre. In a world filled with Mad Scientists and Evil Inventions, one talented evil scientist's hunch-backed lab assistant has big dreams of becoming a Mad Scientist himself and winning the annual Evil Science Fair."
Here's hoping it fairs better than the Weinstein's last foray into the 3D animated realm. You might remember it as the sleepy, shoddy and painfully lyricised Hoodwinked.
