New releases in soundtracks this week brings even more summer excitement. Harry Gregson-William’s score to The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian arrives with even more of what made his music for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe incredible. Regina Spektor and Switchfoot fans will get an extra bonus in the songs tacked onto the end of the disc.
Fantasy fans of the Dragonlance series who enjoyed the direct to DVD release Dragons of Autumn Twilight that came out early this year can now enjoy the soundtrack. Composer Karl Preusser’s work isn’t bad for someone whose resumé is just getting started, but unless you really loved the movie and the music along with it this isn’t a disc for the collection.
Music from the movie The Tracey Fragments also hits shelves. If you have a clue who Broken Social Scene is or if you’ve got other FemBots songs on your iPod then there may be something on the disc you’ll enjoy. But don’t pick up the disc on a whim. Your better bet will be to wait and see if any of the songs make their way to iTunes or Amazon and then pick and choose what you really enjoy.
