Watch A New Comic Villain Cause Trouble In The Flash's Midseason Trailer
The CW's The Flash has pretty much perfected the "villain of the week" formula, and it shows no signs of slowing down. By using the Scarlet Speedster's deep rogues gallery, the show has managed to send Barry Allen up against some truly badass enemies -- metahuman or otherwise. Now it seems that The Flash midseason premiere will send our hero up against a new villain with a penchant for heavy firepower. Check out the trailer below to see for yourself!
Oh Barry Allen, when will you learn from your time travelling shenanigans? According to that trailer: not anytime soon. It appears that the latter half of The Flash's third season will start with Barry turning to the rest of Team Flash in order to find a way to stop Savitar from murdering Iris West in the future. As the team scrambles to come up with a solution to the speed god's reign of terror, another villain will make his way to Central City. Although he only appears for a brief moment during the trailer, we get a solid glimpse of Jared Morillo a.k.a Plunder using a high tech rifle to commit some dastardly deeds and steal a mysterious item from a glass case.
As fans of the DC lore already know, Jared Morillo is a detective with a knack for marksmanship, and on an alternate Earth he has a doppelganger named Plunder who uses that skill for personal gain. The trailer doesn't make it very clear as to which Earth this version of Morillo hails from, but considering the fact that Morillo appears to be stealing something during his quick shot in the trailer, it seems safe to assume that the always quick-witted Cisco will probably coin the name Plunder at some point. We can always count on him for good villain branding.
Check out the still shot below for an even better look at The Flash's version of the DC villain:
Pretty badass, right? It invokes memories of classic Arrow-verse villains like Captain Cold and Deadshot (may they both rest in peace) while still retaining its own distinct sense of identity. Savitar may be the big bad of The Flash Season 3, but Plunder is probably going to give Barry a run (get it?) for his money.
The Flash will return to The CW from its midseason break on Tuesday, January 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
