2008 Beijing Olympics: Opening Ceremony And Event Listings

By Kelly West: 2008-08-08 00:32:18
2008 Beijing Olympics: Opening Ceremony And Event Listings Let the games begin! The 2008 Summer Olympics will kick off this weekend with the opening ceremony set to air Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Bob Costas and Matt Lauer will host the event, which will introduce athletes representing 205 countries. The Parade of Nations, which according to tradition will begin with Greece and end with athletes from the host country (China) will take place at the National Stadium in Beijing.

NBC posted the listings for the various events set to take place over the next couple of days. They’re spread out over a number of channels and some are available streaming live on NBCOlympics.com. If you’re going to try to watch as much as possible, better clear your schedule on Saturday and stock up on provisions (chips, soda, beer and in the spirit of the host country, maybe some egg rolls?) because there’s a lot going on! Here’s the schedule for the next two days:

I have been in the entertainment bussiness for 26yrs. I saw the blue prints for the 08 Olimpic games a few years ago. I had know Idea it was going to be as it was presented. I came in at 3am ( after a show I was on ) to to see some thing that I think would be a crime not to share with people who missed it because they were asleep. As some one that does shows for a living I was in aw. I do want to buy the opening ceramonies on DVD as well.

  1. kim Says:

I loved the opening ceremonies and absolutely want to purchase many dvds for gifts, for local arts groups, and schools/universities to have in their archives!!! I see many powerful uses for THESE opening ceremonies to be put into a dvd!

(Perhaps some of the proceeds could benefit a necessary, immediate cause - like, the men's volleyball family who lost their father/father-in-law in that tragic, senseless murder a couple of days ago??? Just a thought...)

  1. Judy Says:
